I have a brother there due to dementia for the last 5 years. I visit from 1 to 3 times each week. 5 years ago, my experience there was quite different than today. This is an old building with many challenges, 5 years ago the entire building stunk, was dirty and poorly ran. It was understaffed but did have core group of dedicated caring people. I have witnessed a significant improvement slowly in the past 5 years. Today the floors and walls are clean the smell is much, much better. Daily activities are always keeping the morale and smiles a better experience for patients. My brother has not been an easy patient to serve. At times he has been a difficult patient. However, the staff has remained kind and compassionate. My observations of the care for other patients that never have any visits from friends or family, I have seen them treated like family by staff. I have gotten to know several of the staff members, and I see them go above and beyond expectations. There has been a remarkable transformation in the past 5 years.
