Activity Highlights
During the month of September, we will be celebrating the Walk to End Alzheimer’s with many activities, dress up days, bake sales, BBQ, raffle baskets, and much more!
Each Wednesday all staff and residents are encouraged to wear Purple for “Why I Walk Wednesday” and show their support for Alzheimer’s awareness. Everyone who wears purple has a chance to win a prize each week!
September 10th-14th will be “Why I Walk Week.” Each day will have a different theme and activity.
Monday 10th- Dress in the Decades Day. Everyone is encouraged to dress in your favorite decade; 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s. We will have a bake sale with all proceeds benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association. We will be listening to music from the decades all day!
Tuesday 11th- Hawaiian Day. Break out the floral shirts and dress as if you are on a Hawaiian vacation. We will also be having an ice cream social and luau! All proceeds of the ice cream social will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.
Wednesday 12th- Sports Day! Everyone is encouraged to wear something supporting his or her favorite sports team. We will have sports games and prizes. We will keep you hydrated and energized with Gatorade and protein packed snacks.
Thursday 13th- Superhero day! Our team name this year is Henderson’s Heroes, fighting to end Alzheimer’s. Dress like your favorite superhero! Join us for Superhero movies and popcorn!
Friday 14th- Purple Out Day and BBQ Party! This will be our big kickoff event for the walk. We will have BBQ plates for sale available for pickup or delivery. We will be playing outdoor games and a balloon release ceremony. Join us for the party and prize BINGO! Everyone is encouraged to wear as much purple as possible to spread awareness of the disease!
